October 14:

The lines, colors, textures, patterns and light. The summit views are awesome this time of year, for sure, but there's something about being down in the thick of the changing wooded world that makes my heart swoon.

 

And there's this too... Palette of my inner skies.

 

October 15:

On my walk in the woods yesterday I found so much beauty... And this little journal. It only has a few dozen entries... Some sketches, a margarita recipe, affirmations on love and expansion (I'm in Asheville, after all). It was also lost and found before. The second owner noted this. But the part that made me pause was the longest entry - about a dream the journaler had. It started out with how he met a girl named Hali by the ocean....

some spreads in my art journals are made over multiple random moments. a page with no guiding idea or goal - not even to finish it in one setting, or ever necessarily. just to add to it from time to time and see what little world, story or symbolism might form from organic fits of attention. each time i add a mark or collage element is about being present in that moment, and that's it. it's not about coming back to complete a pre-determined idea or vision. it's just about responding to the page from different perspectives or moods, over the course of a living timeline. keeping a written journal is like this, of course, marking response and expression in a very linear fashion - but i find interest in what happens when the expression is visual and builds upon itself or transforms within the container of a single page or spread. this page is one of those type of spreads. over the course of a month or so, a little here, a little there. free of expectation to say or be anything but what it is.⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #creativepractice #dailypractice #artjournal #artjournaling #practiceinpresence #visualstory #dreamscape #morningpages #visualjournal #artmeditation⠀ ...⠀ #creativelifehappylife #creativefreedom #creativeexpression #creativewomen #introvert #creativepath #sensitive #holdingspace #wherewomencreate #mixedmediaart #artistherapy #artheals #betterthantherapy #creativeprocess #artisawayoflife ⠀

cosmic pine / eye of the needle. a recent meditation on worlds within worlds of creation... microcosmic bits have been a constant inspiration-companion in my art for decades now, off and on. i used to love to doodle microbes and imaginary cell-like life on paper and into clay forms. I even won a drawing prize at an exhibition once for an inked body of work, ages ago. I love to go big and energetic with my art, and I love to scale down and get slow with the details and energy, too. To see the macro and the micro, the vast and the precious.
