Autumn Leaf Inspiration Play (video)

A few weeks ago, I needed some extra-long walks in the woods to feel like myself.

Inspired by the vibrant colors here in the autumn mountain-time, a memory surfaced of collecting leaves with my great-grandma when I was a little girl. We would try to select as many colors and variations as we could from a walk around the block. She had a good eye for detail, and she was part of my lineage in teaching me how to slow down and see... and listen and express (she was a musician, too - so finding our rhythms was kind of her thing).

So I gathered some leaves on a trail and brought them into the studio for a loose+playful creative practice warm-up session. I hit record - and here is some of that footage.

The video peek is time-lapsed and short - so hopefully just the right amount of inspiration to get you out into nature a bit, gathering the good stuff of earth, and then into your art practice with the inspiration somehow.

Be curious to the season's changing palettes and textures, wherever you are, even if the changes are subtle. Slow down and let the seeing come to you from within the pause.

Go. Pause. See. Gather. And then move some color and line around on a page in response. 🍃🍂🤩🎨

It does wonders for the soul.
