paradox, rhythm, art and life

Being able to hold space for paradox - in life, love, truth, art, all the things - may be one of my very favorite practices.

Even though it’s sometimes hard on our egos, the depth of beauty and peace within that posture is Real. No matter the weather of life.

In my world, January 2020 began with a fire - literally. And the fire continues - metaphorically. And while things are being transformed to nutrient-rich ash, my mind is calm, my heart is warm and my spirit knows it is free. Even on really hard days, and with a tired body, there is that peace, an awareness of that beauty. Thank you, Spirit.

Facts are not necessarily the full Truth. Appearances rarely are. Contradictions can be well-founded and true.

Every story retold has an agenda. It is good to wonder what it is, to participate in what we choose to believe, hold onto, let go of. Is it giving our true selves and relationships new life, love, inspiration, purpose, forgiveness, hope?

We are so dynamic… as long as we don’t settle for the stories of complacency or stuck.

We don’t have to know why things are seemingly contradictory, just that life is richer when we are receptive to that which may be contrary to our previous experiences, assumptions, striving and expectations.

Creativity thrives in the promises of paradox set free to BE.

And contrary to what my mind tries to think about it all much of the time - so do I, it seems.

For your creative practice, in case you missed it:

  • A free 3 part video series with lots of examples to help you choose, find or make your next art journal or sketchbook

  • PAINTING inSpirit has begun with a four part exploration of Creative RHYTHM. I’m loving making this new offering, and the response has been wonderful. Here are more details about the offering itself.

  • I held the first Art Table gathering - it was so much fun to connect with some of you! These will be not-recorded, live-online gatherings once a month for all members of my patreon, and occasionally I’ll open it up to my subscribers, too.

  • You can still make each 2020 New and Full moon personal, intentional and in sync to your unique creative rhythms and experience, using your own birth chart and some simple symbolic wisdom. I walk you through it, including getting your birth chart, HERE.

  • {patrons, the January behind-the-scenes vlog update is now posted, too}.
