Tenderly (new painting)

tenderly

We went on a walk through a park on my birthday last week, and we came around a corner to a field where hundreds of robins were resting on the ground together. It was a beautiful sight that caused us to pause and watch in silence. I think I was most touched that day by the realization of how easy it would have been to look past them and not see them at all as we walked by.

So, it's no surprise that as this painting progressed, a little bird showed up between her cupped hands... and that bird was a sweet robin... a symbol of joy, renewal, beginnings, and simplicity.

It felt like a reminder to notice and trust these gifts in the tenderness of the moment.
