for cultivating your Creative Art Practice

intuitive altered book art journal painting, abstract dreamscape, Hali Karla

Does making art help you feel more like yourself, awake to the energy and beauty of life, and more connected to your soulā€™s truth?

Or do you sense that it could - if you could just find the right way to fit it into the midst of your days and weeks?

If you want to stop intending to make more time and space for your art, and find a creative practice rhythm + perspective you can keep - you are in the right place. šŸ’«

When you join Creative Practice Keepers,
you will begin toā€¦

  • make time for what you love, nourishes your soul and soothes your nervous system

  • find (or re-establish) an art practice that fits your life

  • express and explore your unique visual language and artistic sense

  • move beyond unhelpful myths about art and into creative perspectives true to you

  • deepen your connection to the artist within, other creatives, and your sense of creative Spirit

As a life-long artist myselfā€¦

ā€¦ keeping a creative art practice has been pivotal to navigating and processing the decisions, experiences, and possibilities of my creative path AND life. It strengthens my courage and trust in the ebb+flow of all things, and opens my heart to joy, peace and possibility. Having other creatives to share in this with has been vital as well.

Artists just experience, engage and see things differently than most people. We were made that way - and we thrive when we stay connected (even us introverts!).

I guide others in developing their own dynamic creative art practice because it is so often the key to deeper connection, meaning, healing, insights and courageous expression for so many of us creativesā€¦ and that is a much needed energy in our changing world.

A creative practice is rooted in honest, curious and often playful intimacy with life. It is a time for learning and making connections.

It activates and integrates your dynamic perspective+story AND extends beyond what you think you know into the realms of fresh renewal and discovery.

In this video, I share various peeks from my art table while reflecting on the vision and why of our community,
and how that might relate to you. Listen while you doodle or paint, if you likeā€¦

Creative Practice Keepers is for you if youā€¦

  • Know (or suspect) that keeping a creative art practice helps you feel more like YOUā€¦ and that may include feeling better, less stressed, more joyful, centered, calm, open, inspired, present, free or engaged with life.

  • Find that making art and creative expression helps you see connections and make meaning, or navigate changes, uncertainty, decisions and feelings not easily expressed in other ways.

  • Come from any level of visual art experience background and interest. In CPK, you start where you are in your creative process, engage a posture of curiosity+learning and activate a practice true-to-you from there.

  • Know that you thrive+function best when you make time and space for your art regularly, but may struggle with doing so and often let other things, ā€œrealā€ priorities, and people always come first. In CPK, there is a rhythm to keep you touching in with your creative callings, plenty of inspiration to jumpstart things when you need it, and guidance to help you replace unhelpful habits with a creativity habit that fits your sense of wellbeing, interests and life circumstances.

Creative Practice Keepers is also for the hard & uncomfortable times of being an artist & creative

Have you hit a rut or obstacle? Are you facing nagging doubts, or just feel stuck in your art practice and canā€™t shake it or shift things? Or do you find that your old approaches just arenā€™t working anymore? Or that the weight of the world is paralyzing your efforts?

You are not alone. These are real cycles for creatives, and we all go through them.

CPK has inspiration, invitations, and ongoing art and reflective prompts - as well as encouragement, support and wisdom from members, that can spark+stoke your creative fire and have you reaching for your creative practice again!

ELEMENTS of Art for INTUITIVE CREATIVES

This workshop series is part of Keepers, as well. It includes helpful lessons/activities - on the Elements and Principles of Art, as well COLOR theory for seeing progress fast.

Itā€™s a great foundation - or refresh - for your visual language exploration and possibilities!

My hope for all Keepers is that you will make cultivating your creative art practice the priority in our community. To honor, release and give a voice to what wants to expressed from within you.

Being in your creative process & making your art
is your greatest teacher.

We return to our true selves and our sense of interconnection when we make from our heart and hands.

Then, together, through witness and encouragement with other artists and creatives,
we ensure that we donā€™t lose sight of these restorative ways and the creative path of wonder, depth and discovery.

Take a peek inside

If new technology makes you a bit nervous, or youā€™re wondering what it looks like inside, rest assured that the network we use is user-friendly, flows well and is well-loved by members. Youā€™ll get the hang of it in no time. šŸ˜˜šŸ’«

Hereā€™s a short mini-tour from inside the group space:

Frequently Asked Questions

+ Is this a course?

Nope. Itā€™s a membership community experience, which is different.

Thereā€™s plenty to learn and integrate within - and what you learn will build a strong foundation for your creative practice over time - but the content is more like smaller portions to enjoy based on your own pace and interests, for as long as you are a member. You can stick with the weekly rhythm of the ongoing prompts, revisit past explorations in the group 'library' - or dip in and out however you like.

There is also the priceless, precious gift of sharing about art, life and creative process with others keeping a creative practice as part of life.

+ How do members connect and share?

The CPK community group and content is hosted at my private Creative Practice Way network! It flows a bit like a facebook group feed, but is WAY better, without all the distractions of social media.

You can share pics of your art and make posts, and comment to each other or send private messages. You can enjoy the experience on the web via your computer or download the awesome app - whichever you like.

+ What technology do I need to participate?

  • A computer or mobile device with internet access. A high-speed connection will keep frustration to a minimum.
  • A working, accessible email account, and basic computer skills.
  • An account in my Creative Practice Way network (where our Keepers Group is hosted). You will receive an email that will invite you to create one once you register.
  • If you use/prefer a mobile device or tablet, you will need the Mighty Networks app - which you can easily download once you make your account.
  • If you plan on attending the live-online events you will need a free Zoom account.
  • To share photos of your art, you can use your smart phone or mobile device and share right through the app, or upload your digital photos via the web.

+ Does Hali answer questions and give feedback?

Yep - to a degree! šŸ˜˜ Even better though, is that the whole community can support each other. Every member is encouraged to participate and seek+offer support at their comfort level.

Hali facilitates the space and live-online events, and offers inspiration, invitations, and demos with guidance. She pops in 5-6 times most weeks. Private, personal feedback or coaching with Hali is not part of Creative Practice Keepers.

The real juice is in what we create together as a community through participation, witnessing, and shared creative ideas+encouragement. Your creative perspective and experience matters in CPK - so bring it and shine. Members say this space feels SAFE to do so!

+ When are the live-online Zoom events? Are they recorded?

The times and days vary, so that we can offer some times to suit members in different timezones. Zoom events are posted right in the group, and easy to RSVP and join.

Currently, two Art Table creative practice hours each month are on Thursdays at 1pm edt. Once a month, there will be an evening (in the eastern timezone) Art Table. Art Tables are not recorded.

Any special live-online events for topic lessons or art-making experiences will be announced ahead of time and are recorded for replay for those who can't make it.

+ Is there a suggested supply list?

You are encouraged to start with and use whatever supplies you have and call to you most, and to make the invitations your own based on that.

If you aren't sure where to start, a mixed-media sketchbook and set of craft paints is a great place to start. Making art does not need fancy supplies or to cost a fortune - and nothing stirs creativity like having to work within limitations!

You WILL learn about supplies you might like just by being active in the group with us, though! Many of us art journal, paint and sketch - but others have different mediums theyā€™re exploring. And we creatives love supply talk!

Haliā€™s demos often include acrylic paints and inks, or other mixed-media supplies. You can see some of her favorite supplies RIGHT HERE.

+ Do I need previous art experience to participate?

Nope. We come from diverse backgrounds and experience levels with art-making, and ā€œbeginnerā€™s mindā€ is encouraged to all. There is a ton to learn in the world of art-making - and you are encouraged to dive in, try things, and see what develops from thereā€¦ thatā€™s how every one us starts, and being a newbie can be such a ripe time of discovery and joy!

KEEPERS is also a great accompaniment to any other courses you may be taking - and visa versa - since every way you learn and explore your art and interests is part of your creative practice.

+ What happens after I register?

After registering, you will receive an additional email invitation to create an account at my private Creative Practice Way network where the Creative Practice Keepers Community is located. It just takes a minute, and HERE is a picture of what to expect.

Once you create your account you are encouraged to begin with the Welcome-Start Here post and the navigation tips. You will also receive a more official Welcome email from me.

From there, just dive in with us, introduce yourself and have a look around. Thereā€™s already plenty to explore and youā€™ll find a flow. Just start where you feel called, and enjoy at your pace!

+ Is there a monthly membership or payment plan option?

Nope.

The richness and effectiveness of Creative Practice Keepers comes from the process of committing to + cultivating your creative practice and awareness through time. One month just doesnā€™t do it - and having folks who dip in and out so quickly without getting involved doesnā€™t add to the warmth and continuity of the connections and sharing we try to nurture in the community.

+ What is your refund policy?

Because doors only open for a short time and seats are limited in Creative Practice Keepers, your membership fee is a non-refundable and non-transferable commitment for your creative practice, so please shop mindfully and let me know if you have any questions!

To be clear, there are also no refunds given for technical issues, such as limitations of your devices, or internet connection - so please be sure to check the minimum requirements above before registering.

That said, I DO WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY and have a great experience - so always reach out with any questions.

+ Is this a subscription? Can I cancel membership anytime?

As of the summer of 2022, CPK is NOT a subscription membership for new members. If you are joining in the second half of 2022, there is a one-time payment to join, that includes your access through January 2023.

If you joined before August 2022, your subscription payment plan is still valid! Here are details on canceling...

You can cancel anytime. Your subscription automatically renews at the frequency you selected (quarterly, bi-annually or annually) - unless you or Hali Karla Arts cancels it. You'll receive a reminder email a few days before the renewal.

If you cancel your membership, you will lose access to the community and content at the end of your current subscription season.

All who joined in Spring 2021 or later: you can cancel or change renewal frequency via your Gumroad account.

Founding members: you can make changes or cancel your subscription through your Mighty Network account.

Reach out if you need help.

Be notified when doors open!
