a still-life (altered book art journal peek)
This is a book of Sisley's art that I'm altering into an art journal.I have a few altered books I'm working in this year, but this little one has turned out to be one of my favorites.
Most often the images of his art on the pages get totally covered up, but sometimes - like in this spread - they intrigue me and peek out from beneath my own color-moving play and contemplation.
There was something about his Still-Life with Heron painting... the deep neutral colors and abstraction.
I also had a page from an old Klimt calendar with his painting, Danae, on it. A still-life in its own way, too.
I can relate to something about her incubating, solitary, resting pose. Well, I'm not sure if I relate, or long for it... or maybe a little bit of both at once.
For whatever reason it speaks to me, I enjoyed doing a little paint-sketch of her in the spread.
Materials in this mixed-media spread: altered book art journal, liquitex and golden acrylics, oil pastels, graphite
